Local heat emission due to unidirectional spin-wave heat conveyer effect observed by lock-in thermography

نویسندگان

چکیده

Lock-in thermography measurements were performed to reveal heat source distribution induced by the unidirectional spin-wave conveyer effect (USHCE) of magnetostatic surface spin waves. When waves are excited in an yttrium iron garnet slab, lock-in images show spatially biased sharp and complicated heating patterns, indicating importance edge dynamics for USHCE. The accessibility local emission properties allows us clarify a capability remote realized USHCE; it can transfer energy even through macro-scale air gap between two magnetic materials owing long-range dipole-dipole coupling.

Investigation of the unidirectional spin heat conveyer effect in a 200 nm thin Yttrium Iron Garnet film

We have investigated the unidirectional spin wave heat conveyer effect in sub-micron thick yttrium iron garnet (YIG) films using lock-in thermography (LIT). Although the effect is small in thin layers this technique allows us to observe asymmetric heat transport by magnons which leads to asymmetric temperature profiles differing by several mK on both sides of the exciting antenna, respectively....

Highly-Sensitive Lock-in Thermography of Local Heat Sources Using 2-Dimensional Spatial Deconvolution

A lock-in thermography system is introduced, which allows temperature modulations in the 10 μKrange to be detected. Under certain conditions (homogeneous infrared emissivity and thermal properties, good signal-to-noise ratio), the spatial resolution of lock-in thermographic investigations of local heat sources in electronic devices can be improved by spatial deconvolution. An iteratively workin...

Modeling Diffusion to Thermal Wave Heat Propagation by Using Fractional Heat Conduction Constitutive Model

Based on the recently introduced fractional Taylor’s formula, a fractional heat conduction constitutive equation is formulated by expanding the single-phase lag model using the fractional Taylor’s formula. Combining with the energy balance equation, the derived fractional heat conduction equation has been shown to be capable of modeling diffusion-to-Thermal wave behavior of heat propagation by ...

Heat Flux Sensors for Infrared Thermography in Convective Heat Transfer

This paper reviews the most dependable heat flux sensors, which can be used with InfraRed (IR) thermography to measure convective heat transfer coefficient distributions, and some of their applications performed by the authors' research group at the University of Naples Federico II. After recalling the basic principles that make IR thermography work, the various heat flux sensors to be used wit...

Localization of Weak Heat Sources in Electronic Devices Using Highly Sensitive Lock-in Thermography

Using lock-in thermography the temperature resolution of a Focal Plane Array (FPA) thermocamera can be improved down to 40 μK after 1000 s measuring time. This allows the detection of even weak heat sources (hot spots) in electronic devices. The technical realization of lock-in thermography is described here with typical applications to the investigations of shunts in solar cells and localizati...
